Andy Preston, chairman of Teesside Philanthropic Foundation, says the Women of Steel lunch will celebrate Teesside women.

Teesside’s ‘women of steel’ are invited being invited for a Christmas lunch and entertainment featuring local funny man Patrick Monahan.
The Women of Steel Lunch is specially focused on those affected by the recent closure of the local steelworks, but all Teesside women will be made welcome.
The fun event, which includes a three-course Christmas lunch, music and comedy, is being organised by charitable movement, Middlesbrough and Teesside Philanthropic Foundation.
Foundation chairman Andy Preston said: “This is a special event for the women of Teesside. We’ll be especially welcoming to those who have personal or family connections with Teesside steelmaking but all local women will be made very welcome.
“We’re looking to create some energy, exchange ideas and enjoy a fun, lively community meal for just a few of Teesside’s many brilliant women, who in my view are all women of steel.
“While the event was prompted by the closure of the steelworks, this is about ensuring that we end 2015 on a high, have some fun and look forward to 2016 with real belief and positivity.”
The Women of Steel Lunch takes place at the Riverside Stadium in Middlesbrough 11.30am-2pm on Friday, December 18.
Tickets for the lunch are just £4 each.
