Wilton Firms provide a Christmas Boost

Recovering Teesside addicts are set for a Christmas Day treat thanks to industrial workers at the Wilton International site.
Almost £2,700 was raised by employees of the main Wilton companies and their suppliers through a charity golf event.
And a slice of the money will help provide turkey and all the trimmings plus other vital support for a Stockton charity helping men with drug and alcohol dependency issues.
The Moses Project will be opening its doors on December 25^th to several hundred users of its services at the Rivers of Life Church on Lightfoot Grove.
The Wilton International golfers donated the cash to Middlesbrough and Teesside Philanthropic Foundation, who have helped the Moses Project for the last few festive seasons.
Brian Jones, chairman of The Moses Project, said: “We’re extremely grateful to everyone at Wilton. This money will go a long way towards helping people who are often homeless, live in desperate, chaotic circumstances and who suffer all the consequences that drug and alcohol dependency brings with it.”
The charity, running for four years, assists its clients by opening the church for hot meals and support four days a week. Trained key workers also assist with one to one support, assistance with housing and other benefits and the promotion of a more positive lifestyle, holding a range of team and confidence building events and activities aimed at re-engaging the addicts with society.
The Moses Project works closely with national addiction support agencies including CRI (crime reduction initiatives) and Lifeline, the NHS, the Police, Stockton Council, local churches and charities.
Requiring around £50,000 a year to meet its running costs, the project is fortunate to have supportive benefactors and has longer term ambitions to establish a permanent base to help more people in the town beat their addictions and rebuild their lives.
Stephen Hands, senior vice president of Sembcorp Utilities, one of the Wilton-based companies that took part in the golf day, said: “Meeting Brian and his superb team plus the guys who use the service was a truly humbling experience. We wish the Moses Project all the best in the valuable work they do.”
The Philanthropic Foundation said the funds from the golf day will also help a number of other Teesside good causes over the Christmas period.
