TEESSIDE community groups and charities need the votes of local people to help them win a share of £20,000 cash jackpot.
The £20,000 Golden Giveaway will give 15 Tees charities, schools and community groups a chance to share the cash, which is being made available by Middlesbrough and Teesside Philanthropic Foundation.
They will each receive at least £500 after a panel of the foundation’s patrons shortlisted them from 60 entries – but they could win up to £5,000 if they receive more votes than their fellow finalists.
The community group receiving most votes will receive £5,000.
The second-placed charity will receive £2,500, there’s £2,000 for third place, fourth and fifth get £1,500, sixth to eighth will receive £1,000, there’s £750 for ninth to 12th, and the final three will receive £500 each.
Paul Davison, of foundation patrons Erimus Insurance Brokers, said: “It’s so important that the public take a few seconds to vote for which of our Golden Giveaway finalists they would most like to receive the biggest share of the cash. Their vote could make all the difference.
“The Golden Giveaway is an exciting way for us to support some of Teesside’s amazing charities, schools and community groups that need our help.
“It also engages the Teesside public with the Philanthropic Foundation, whilst raising the profile of our charity and the various community groups that take part.”
Those hoping to receive votes from the Teesside community are:
- Armed Forces Day Middlesbrough – to continue celebration of those who serve the country
- Music in Hospitals – for free musical concerts in care homes and hospital dementia wards
- Park Court Residents Association – for Dormanstown over-50s Xmas party
- Camphill Village Trust – sports facilities for adults with disabilities at Larchfield Community
- Skelton Primary School – to part-fund an apprentice from the local community
- The Link – supporting Redcar children who’ve suffered abuse, exploitation and bereavement
- Trinity Youth & Children’s Project – inspiring North Ormesby kids to reach their potential
- Thornaby Community Partnership – tackling poverty, health and education issues
- The Davison Trust – treats for Middlesbrough children with disabilities or severe illness
- East Middlesbrough FC – equipment for new junior footy club
- The Shack – Stockton community project in Ragworth/Primrose Hill
- Dormanstown Community Sports & Social Club – towards new heating system
- Neoangels – support for parents at North Tees Hospital Neonatal Unit
- Brambles Primary Academy – towards outdoor play equipment in Brambles Farm
- Gym World Special Needs Gymnastics Group – to attend Special Olympics in Sheffield
