* Mary Thompson Fund support refugees & people seeking asylum in the Tees Valley
* Seeking a funding bid writer to help generate and increase the charity income
This opportunity is for an Individual
This opportunity is based in Stockton-on-Tees
The Mary Thompson Fund was established in 2001 in memory of a dedicated Middlesbrough teacher who spent much of her life promoting peace and supporting refugees. The charity remains a vital source of support for refugees who have no other means of assistance and are unable to work or claim benefits.
The Mary Thompson Fund offers emergency cash, non-perishable food, and toiletries. Additionally, they consider individual requests for support with travel costs, document translation, school uniforms, and more.

They are a registered charity currently supporting approximately 70-80 individuals in the Tees Valley who are facing extreme hardship. Funding payments fluctuate based on available resources, but even providing a modest £10 per person per week, alongside food support, requires securing a minimum monthly income of around £3,500. This creates constant pressure to generate the necessary funds.
We would greatly appreciate the support of a dedicated bid writer who could assist with focused fundraising efforts once or twice a year. This role would not require ongoing commitment but rather concentrated work during specific periods to help relieve the financial strain.
We believe that anyone who wishes to help refugees should have a basic understanding of the reasons people are forced to flee their homes. We also expect that every member of our team demonstrates compassion and empathy in their work.
