About West View Project Children and Young People’s Activity Centre – West View Project was established in 1980 by a group of residents who wanted to create a safe space for children in the local area to play. This founding aim remains at the heart of the organisation, which became a registered charity in 2017.

The charity operates the Miers Avenue youth centre, open four evenings a week, catering to children aged 5 to 19. The centre provides a safe and supportive environment for young people to grow, learn, and connect.

About West View Project CIC – West View Project CIC is a community-based initiative that has been active for nearly 30 years in the West View area of Hartlepool. The CIC provides children from underserved areas opportunities to access green spaces and engage in physical activities, with a core aim of improving the quality of life and aspirations of young people in Hartlepool and surrounding areas.

Key activities include:

  • Forest school and beach school sessions.
  • Canoeing and outdoor adventure days for children and young people identified as needing emotional support.
  • Promoting resilience, wellbeing, and mental health through outdoor activities in natural settings.

Trustee Opportunities Available:
We are looking to expand the boards of both West View Project and West View Project CIC with enthusiastic trustees who share our vision of making a difference in the lives of children and young people.

Role Requirements:

  • Must be aged 16 or older.
  • Willingness to attend regular trustee meetings (West View Project meetings are held every last Wednesday bi-monthly in the morning) and support fundraising events.
  • Provide guidance and support to our dedicated teams.
  • Comply with relevant Charity and Company law.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of fundraising and applying for grants is highly valued.

Current Board Members for West View Project:

  • Chairman – Serving since 1980, oversees the running of the service.
  • Finance Officer – Manages the charity’s finances.
  • Board Member – Local resident.
  • Board Member – Manager at Families First, a local charity.
