Details

FoodCycle brings together communities through the power of food, tackling hunger and loneliness while reducing food waste. Week in and week out, FoodCycle nourishes those in need by cooking up delicious meals using surplus food that would otherwise go to waste.

As a Cooking Volunteer, you’ll join the kitchen team to help produce a three-course vegetarian meal using surplus food. You’ll contribute to recipe ideas, help with prepping the food, cooking, and of course, clearing up afterwards! Supported by a FoodCycle Project Leader, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your kitchen skills while making a real difference in your community. No prior experience is required – just a willingness to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cooking: Assist in preparing and cooking a delicious three-course vegetarian meal from surplus food.
  • Recipe Ideas: Contribute your own ideas and help put together creative meal plans.
  • Food Prep: Chop, peel, and prepare ingredients alongside the team.
  • Clean-up: Help with clearing up after the meal, ensuring the venue is ready for the next session.

You’ll be part of a team that works together to make a huge impact by reducing food waste and providing nutritious meals to those in need. It’s a wonderful opportunity to learn new cooking skills, work with others, and feel part of something special.
