Details

Nepacs is a North East charity dedicated to promoting a positive future for individuals impacted by the criminal justice and care systems. With over 140 years of experience, Nepacs provides vital emotional support, resilience-building, and practical information to families, young people, and children affected by adverse situations. Much of Nepacs’ work is made possible through dedicated volunteers who bring energy, warmth, and friendship, offering reassurance in the most challenging circumstances.

Nepacs is currently seeking Court Duty Volunteers to support families at Teesside Crown Court. As a Court Duty Volunteer, you will offer essential advice, information, and support to families who are experiencing difficult times when a loved one is being sentenced or remanded in custody. Many families of prisoners report feelings of isolation and helplessness, and your role will be to offer a friendly, listening ear and assist them in navigating the emotional and practical steps they need to take.

Volunteers will be stationed in the court, providing a visible presence and using telephone support to help families. Your aim will be to listen, offer helpful advice, and guide individuals through this challenging time, ensuring they feel supported and informed as they face the next steps.

Nepacs will provide training and arrange a DBS check for all volunteers to ensure a safe and supportive environment for everyone involved.

If you are compassionate, empathetic, and ready to make a positive impact on families facing challenging situations, Nepacs would love to have you on board.
