Nepacs is a North East charity which aims to promote a positive future for people who have been affected by adverse situations in their lives. They work with families, young people and children, as well as those affected by the criminal justice or care systems.
They are there for people during difficult times when they need some additional support, whether that be emotional support, help with building resilience, confidence and self-esteem or some practical information.
Nepacs are known for their work within criminal justice, having worked in this field for 140 years but we have developed our reach to include services in the community, for children and adults from all walks of life, including those with care experience.
Much of their work is delivered by volunteers, who bring energy, warmth and friendship, and offer reassurance in the most challenging of circumstances.

Court Duty Volunteer – The purpose of the Nepacs court duty volunteer is to offer advice information and support to families. Having a visible presence in the court and using telephone support, volunteers support families by listening and offering information and advice when someone close to them is sentenced or remanded in custody. Families of prisoners often say they feel isolated in their community and unable to cope. Volunteers aim to help individuals by offering a listening ear, a helping hand and friendly support to help family make the next steps.
Training will be given.
