Family Action is dedicated to supporting children, young people, and families to build life skills, confidence, and strong, positive relationships. Their mission is to provide practical and emotional support within the community and family homes to help families thrive.

They are currently seeking volunteers to join their team in the Family Hubs across the Stockton Borough. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of local families and be a valued part of a welcoming, supportive team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with the planning and preparation of the room for activities and pack away the equipment after sessions.
• Welcome and greet parents/carers and their children, creating a relaxed and welcoming environment.
• Facilitate fun and interactive group activities for families, encouraging positive interaction and engagement.
• Model, encourage, and support parents/carers and their children to actively participate in the activities.
• Signpost service users to additional support if needed, ensuring families receive the help they require.
• Organise refreshments for the session, helping to create a comfortable, community-focused atmosphere.
• Adhere to safe practices at all times and ensure that the session runs smoothly.
• Record attendance for the group sessions as required by Family Action’s policies and procedures.
• Have the opportunity to plan session activities with guidance and support from Family Hub staff.

Volunteer Times:

• Tuesday to Friday
• Various Family Hubs across Stockton Borough
• Flexible commitment options available.

What You’ll Need:

• A DBS check (Family Action will arrange this).
• Enthusiasm for working with children and families.
• A friendly and approachable attitude, with a willingness to engage and support others.
• The ability to work as part of a team and follow Family Action’s policies and procedures.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in community work, develop your skills in working with families, and contribute to creating stable, supportive environments for children and parents in need.
