Details

The Family Hubs work closely with families who have children aged 0-19 years (up to 25 years for those with SEND) to provide essential support through playgroups, parenting courses, and resources to aid children’s development and strengthen family bonds. As part of their efforts, they also manage a Community Garden, providing a safe and nurturing space for families and the wider community to enjoy.

They are currently seeking enthusiastic volunteers to assist with planting, weeding, watering, and tidying up the garden. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or just starting out, all levels of skill and knowledge are welcome. Volunteers can work individually or as part of a team, making it a flexible and rewarding opportunity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the maintenance of the Community Garden by performing tasks such as planting, weeding, watering, and general tidying.
  • Ensure the high-rise plant bed is well-maintained – an accessible space for individuals with physical limitations or wheelchair users.
  • Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone involved, particularly families who visit the garden.

Volunteer Times:

  • Mondays, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM (excluding bank holidays).
  • Flexible team or individual roles available.

What You’ll Need:

  • Clothing suitable for gardening and weather, such as comfortable clothes and appropriate footwear (boots or wellies).
  • Thick gardening gloves (if you prefer to bring your own, though gloves are provided on-site).
  • A willingness to get involved, with no previous gardening experience required.
  • Enthusiasm for helping maintain a space that benefits the local community.

This is a great opportunity to connect with your local community while contributing to the development of a beautiful garden space for families and individuals of all abilities.
