FoodCycle nourishes the hungry and lonely in our communities with delicious meals, using food that would otherwise go to waste. They collect surplus food donations from partner supermarkets and local retailers to create these community meals and need your help to ensure they have a regular supply of food to keep their sessions running.
As a Surplus Food Collection Volunteer, you’ll play a crucial role in the process of providing free meals for those in need. Your main responsibility will be collecting surplus food donations from partner supermarkets and local retailers, ensuring the food is collected in a timely and friendly manner each week. Once collected, you’ll bring the surplus food back to the local FoodCycle venue and store it securely.
You don’t need any previous experience, just a passion for reducing food waste and a friendly, reliable attitude. A vehicle is required for this role, so you’ll need access to a car, bike, or another form of transportation to help collect donations.
Key Responsibilities:
Time Commitment:
There are no minimum commitment requirements – FoodCycle welcomes volunteers to contribute as much or as little as they wish! On average, a surplus food collection shift takes around 2 hours.
FoodCycle’s Aims:
This is a great opportunity to play a vital role in reducing food waste and ensuring that local families and individuals have access to nutritious meals.
