Peer Talk is a well-established mental health charity that supports adults (18+) experiencing depression, low mood, and anxiety. Their weekly peer support meetings in Thornaby provide a safe and welcoming space—without waiting lists or queues—where individuals can share their experiences and feel supported.

Peer Talk is looking for compassionate Volunteer Facilitators to help lead their support meetings. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of others by fostering a safe and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities
✔ Facilitate weekly 90-minute peer support meetings in Thornaby
✔ Work in pairs to guide discussions and ensure a welcoming atmosphere
✔ Commit to attending 4 or 5 meetings every three months
✔ Actively listen, provide encouragement, and signpost to further support where needed

✅ Strong listening and communication skills
✅ Empathy, reliability, and a non-judgmental attitude
✅ A commitment to creating a safe space for open conversations
(No counselling experience is required—volunteers are active listeners, not therapists!)

📅 Peer Talk is particularly looking for new volunteers to start in April 2025
