“Maybe the kids will turn out a little bit better because they’ll think there are people out there who care about them.”
Please spare three minutes to watch this moving film about the impact of the short breaks we provide to Teesside’s most disadvantaged families.
“The Caravan of Love – One Family’s Story” is told by an amazing Middlesbrough man Martin, with the help of leading Teesside film makers Ithica Films and our PR man Dave Allan of DNA PR & Publicity and Tees Business.
Martin, who has looked after his two grandsons alone for the past 10 years, speaks with a raw emotion that will leave no doubt in your mind why the short breaks we offer are so vitally important.
Martin stepped in to care for his grandchildren when they were very young when her chaotic lifestyle meant his daughter was no longer able to care for them and they were set to be taken into the care system.
The move has cost Martin his job, his marriage and his good health – and he’d never been able to take the boys on a true holiday until they spent a few days at one of our caravans near Filey.
Our first caravan was purchased following an anonymous but large donation to our Foundation in 2016 – with a second purchased following an incredible response at the Foundation’s 2017 Ball by our friends at The Finlay Cooper Fund and so many other generous local companies and individuals.
To help us support the ongoing costs of running the two caravans, you can support the Foundation by signing up as a Teesside Centurion, donating £19 per month to our charity. It takes just seconds to do so here: https://cafdonate.cafonline.org/7560#/DonationDetails
