We take our hats off to Cath Devereux and friends who ran the Virtual London Marathon to raise more than £6,000 for her charity, the Russ Devereux Headlight Project.
Running in memory of her husband Russ – former boss of Philanthropic patrons Devereaux Transport and Distribution – Cath ran a route around her Hutton Rudby home.
She was joined in covering the virtual London Marathon by three of Russ’s friends, Elliot Butterworth, Rich Bowden and Jay Holmes, who also ran the New York Marathon last November, raising almost £1,800 for the mental health charity.
Cath tells us that the whole ‘Running for Russ’ journey – also taking in the Middlesbrough 10k and Great North Run – has now raised around £15,000.
Having helped Cath with initial fundraising for the Headlight Project, I’m sure our supporters will join us in commending her for her incredible efforts in the face of adversity.
Meanwhile, our thanks to supporters Tim Ward, Helen Butterfield and Andy Buckworth who all took part in the virtual Great North Run to raise funds for the Philanthropic Foundation. Tim raised more than £500, Andy £300 and Helen £150.
