It’s amazing to see Bewley Primary School’s young pupils enjoying nature after we donated £980 to put towards their Forest School project.
With an increasing number of youngsters spending their time indoors using games consoles and the internet nowadays, their back-to-nature project is having a dramatic effect on their knowledge of the Great Outdoors.
Bewley Primary have discovered Foundation Stage children coming into school with lower-than-expected language skills and an inability to name flowers, insects, trees and birds, as many of their families are on low incomes and do not have a garden.
So the #Billingham school came up with the Forest School idea to develop self-confidence through learning experiences in a woodland setting, while allowing pupils to engage with their natural surroundings in a comfortable environment.
