Cheers! Foundation chairman Andy Preston with the charity’s new patrons, from left, BHP Law’s Jo Anderson, Sally Hare and Claire Hewitt.
There was a country house setting as a fast-growing charitable movement raised almost £3,000 from its inaugural Ladies’ Lunch.
Rudby Hall, a former royal residence close to the North Yorkshire village of Hutton Rudby, played host to 70 female business leaders in what Middlesbrough and Teesside Philanthropic Foundation aims to make an annual summer event.
During a welcome from Andy Preston, the charity’s founder and chairman told the guests that the Foundation had now raised more than £900,000 in four years, thanks to the support of local businesses and individuals.
Rudby Hall owner Martin Johnson briefed the visitors on the history of the Grade II* country hall, which was built in 1838 for King William IV’s daughter, Lady Amelia Cary.
The ladies also enjoyed an informative talk by Sarah McCartney, the Saltburn-born owner of London-based microperfumery, 4160 Tuesdays.
Foundation trustee Emma Simkins, of charity patrons Henderson Insurance Broking Company, said the inaugural event was a great success.
“The ladies loved getting together for a fun and informative event, dressing up for a drinks reception, networking and lunch. Best of all, we raised £2,700 for the Philanthropic Foundation, money that will go towards helping some of the most needy within Teesside’s community.
Foundation patrons represented at the Ladies Lunch also included BHP Law, Nortech, Barclays, Arctive Chartered Financial Planners, Endeavour Partnership and Evolution Business and Tax Advisors.
- The Foundation is holding another Ladies’ Lunch at The Thistle Hotel, Middlesbrough on Thursday, December 3. Tickets including a two-course lunch are £30 each. To reserve your seats, please call Mandy on 07948 191046 or email mandy.s@teessidecharity.org.uk
