Meet the team that helps businesses and individuals join together to make Teesside a better place in which to live, work and do business.
Jenny has worked for The Teesside Charity for the last six years and is the funding co-ordinator. Jenny co-ordinates the applications for funding, and monitors how the funding is used. Jenny also looks after the charity caravans at Reighton sands, co-ordinating bookings, and ensures everyone has an amazing time and makes lots of memories.
A couple of years ago, during careers week at my son’s primary school, he was asked “what does your mum do?” He replied, “she makes people happy” and this sums up my job perfectly. The charity is amazing, and I am honoured to be part of an amazing team. We help those who are most vulnerable on a daily basis and although I often cry, I love my job and role.
During the pandemic I saw a plea for iPads for local hospitals and mentioned this to the team, within a few days we had secured additional funding and launched the digital poverty project, helping not only hospital patients but hospices, schools, and disadvantaged families. We provided them with iPads and internet dongles to keep in touch and help with home-schooling. I was so proud of how quickly the charity adapted to the pandemic.
I love our Annual Ball. It’s a must on any social calendar. The stress to organise the evening is immense but worth every moment when you see everyone having a great night and raising tens of thousands of pounds. It really is incredible knowing this money is staying here in Teesside to help bridge the gap. If you haven’t been, you must book a table.
My mum. She passed away a few years ago after battling cancer and I’ve never met such a strong lady. She raised me to be the woman I am today, and I know she loved me working at the charity and helping to make a difference.
