We were proud as punch to donate £5,000 to a brilliant scheme called Moorsholm Youth Provision – and Nige Willis of our generous patrons First Choice Labels took time out to pay them a visit to see our money in action.
The village of #Moorsholm on the North Yorkshire Moors suffers from rural isolation and it is the young people in particular who struggle at a place with no access to a shop, library, pub or takeaway.
And it’s seven miles just to the nearest bus stop!
Moorsholm Youth Provision aims to improve the lives of the young people of the village – supporting them with emotional health and wellbeing by giving them the opportunity, resilience and skills to be able to succeed in life.
With our support, the people of the village have launched a youth club in Moorsholm’s sports pavilion, staffed by trained youth workers delivering activities that improve life skills, confidence and resilience.
The junior club features outdoor sports, art and craft sessions, cooking and baking, and games, while a senior club for older youths also looks to tackle life issues such as drugs, alcohol and smoking awareness, sexual health, dealing with bullying and mental health.
The youth club is helping to bring the community closer, while giving Moorsholm’s young people a sense of purpose and responsibility, allowing their voices to be heard.
What a brilliant scheme – and, yet again, it’s only possible because of the amazing generosity of the brilliant Teessiders who support our unique charity.
