New toy appeal launches for children in Teesside this Christmas

Published on: 6th October 2023

The Teesside Charity launches The Teesside Charity Christmas Toy Appeal, an initiative to help ensure that no child in Teesside wakes up on Christmas Day without a gift.

Every year, The Teesside Charity purchases £10,000 worth of toys for underprivileged children on Teesside. But, due to the rising cost of living, the charity anticipates a surge in demand and as a result has launched The Teesside Charity Christmas Toy Appeal.

One in three children in our region are living below the breadline and their families must make a tough choice between paying their bills or buying food, so Christmas is simply not feasible.

Diane Williamson, charity manager, said: “We want every child to experience this magical time of year, which is why we are calling on the support of our community to help us provide as many gifts as possible to children suffering hardship.

“We can’t do this without you.”

You can help give a child in Teesside the gift of Christmas this year by donating a gift or organising a collection in your workplace. You can either purchase a gift of your choice or purchase a gift from the charity’s Toy Appeal Amazon Wish List. Alternatively, you can donate funds to the Toy Appeal by visiting the ‘Donate’ page on The Teesside Charity website and the charity will purchase the gifts on your behalf.

Businesses interested in organising a collection in their workplace can request one of The Teesside Charity Christmas Toy Appeal donation boxes by emailing Jenny.w@teessidecharity.org.uk.

Gifts can be hand delivered or posted to The Teesside Charity, Cargo Fleet Offices, Middlesbrough, TS6 6XJ by 24th November 2023.
