After a wonderful effort by our supporters in raising more than £12,000 through Sunday’s Great North Run, we’re now aiming to achieve our biggest ever team when the world’s biggest half-marathon returns in 2018.
Mo Farah may have finished first in the Great North Run yet again – but we think the real heroes were the charity fundraisers including those who represented Teesside Philanthropic Foundation.
First home of our 29-strong team was one of our generous Teesside Centurions James Laws who achieved a fantastic time of one hour 29 minutes 59 seconds.
A BIG mention for our top fundraisers so far, Sarah Thompson of our patrons PX Group and Gabrielle Finn, who have each raised more than £1,000!
Gabrielle and her fellow fundraising runner Lisa are pictured with former Olympic hurdler Colin Jackson after being interviewed by him live on TV!
Others showed true Teesside grit by bravely battling on to the finish line despite injuries, pulls, strains and aches.
The great news is that between them they’ve raised more than £12,000 – and counting – which we’ll distribute to charities and worthy causes across Teesside.
Now our attention has turned already to next year’s run. We’re looking for our supporters to commit early to taking part in 2018 towards our aim of our biggest ever Philanthropic team for this epic event.
Commit now and you’ll have 12 months of training – and fundraising! – to ensure you’re in the best possible shape for the big run.
If you’re will to sign up for us in 2018 please email mandy.s@teessidecharity.org.uk
