Meet Sheila, the one who is a fantastic cook, but never eats in the office

Meet the team that helps businesses and individuals join together to make Teesside a better place in which to live, work and do business.

Sheila has worked for the charity for five years and is the office and finance administrator. She keeps our database and financial records up to date and accurate. She is very methodical and meticulous and is our resident Sage and Salesforce expert.

What does the charity mean to you?

My parents taught me from a young age to always support others who needed help, so when I had the opportunity to become a volunteer mentor for the charity, I knew it was the right thing to do. It is heart-warming to be involved in a charity that provides help and support for young children in our area.

What’s your most memorable moment at the charity?

The ‘Christmas shoe box appeal’ and ‘Christmas Giving’ are always the most memorable moments for me. It is so heart-breaking that so many families across Teesside struggle to provide presents for their children/grandchildren and the fact that The Teesside Charity can help alleviate some of their worry and stress at such a pressuring time is wonderful to see.

What’s your favourite Teesside Charity event and why?

There are so many events and functions it’s hard to select one. Although this year’s sky dive does stand out as a particular favourite of mine as a 71-year-old relative took part. It was great, he dressed up like a pig (the flying pig) and jumped from the plane at 15,000 feet. His drive and determination to raise funds made it such a fantastic event.

Who is your hero?

I can honestly say I don’t have one specific hero; I have a list of them. And at the top of my list, it would be the many selfless people who look after and care for the most vulnerable people across Teesside, for example, carers, hospice workers, support workers and everyone else who contributes to making Teesside the unique and special place it is.
